“Music-Centered Psychotherapy combines the power of music with the depth of psychotherapy. By using improvisation, songwriting, and guided listening, clients are able to explore emotions, build resilience, and discover new pathways to healing and self-understanding."
Professional musician and licensed therapist Dr. Hayoung Audrey Lim delivers an hour of live music and guided counseling exercises for your emotional wellness: mindfulness, stress relief, self-esteem, coping with anxiety/depression. Therapist and client foster healing, resilience, and self-compassion through mindful music-making experience.
🎶 Benefits of Music-Centered Psychotherapy
1. Deep Emotional Access
Music reaches emotions that words alone may not capture.
Clients often experience breakthroughs in self-expression, processing grief, trauma, or complex emotions through sound, rhythm, and melody.
2. Enhanced Self-Awareness
Improvisation, songwriting, or guided listening help clients explore subconscious thoughts and feelings.
Musical experiences can mirror inner states, offering a safe medium for reflection and insight.
3. Nonverbal Communication
Especially helpful for clients who struggle with verbal processing (children, neurodiverse individuals, trauma survivors).
Music provides a shared language, reducing barriers to therapeutic connection.
4. Mind-Body Integration
Active music-making engages the body (breathing, movement, coordination) while stimulating the brain.
Encourages regulation of mood, nervous system balance, and stress reduction.
5. Creative Empowerment
Making music empowers clients to take an active role in their healing.
Builds self-confidence, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment.
6. Therapeutic Relationship Strengthening
Co-creating music fosters trust, intimacy, and collaboration between client and therapist.
The shared musical space deepens relational attunement beyond spoken dialogue.
7. Evidence-Based Benefits
Research shows music-centered psychotherapy can reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Supports emotional regulation, trauma integration, and personal growth in both individual and group contexts.
8. Personal Meaning & Identity
Music is tied to memory, culture, and personal identity.
Exploring meaningful songs or creating new music helps clients connect with their story, heritage, and sense of self.

Biblical Counseling with Live Music and Creative Arts is a holistic, Christ-centered service that integrates biblical wisdom, professional counseling principles, live music, and creative artistic expression to promote emotional, relational, and spiritual healing. Each session provides a compassionate and grace-filled environment where individuals, couples, families, or groups can explore life's challenges through Scripture, prayer, meaningful conversation, and creative experiences.
Unlike traditional talk therapy alone, this approach incorporates live instrumental music performance —including cello, piano, guitar, harp or voice—to create a calming, reflective atmosphere that encourages emotional openness, reduces stress, and deepens personal reflection. Participants are also invited to engage in creative art activities, such as drawing, painting, journaling, songwriting, poetry, movement, or other expressive arts, allowing them to process emotions, discover new perspectives, and respond to God's truth in meaningful and personal ways.
Grounded in the belief that God cares for the whole person—mind, body, soul, and spirit—this integrative approach helps participants:
Deepen their relationship with God through Scripture and prayer.
Find biblical guidance for life's challenges and important decisions.
Experience emotional healing, hope, and resilience.
Develop healthy relationships through forgiveness, grace, and reconciliation.
Cultivate self-awareness, purpose, and spiritual growth through creative expression.
Discover renewed peace and joy through music, worship, and artistic engagement.
