MEET DR. LIM

Meet Dr. Hayoung Audrey Lim, Ph.D. a board-certified & licensed music therapist, educator, researcher, cellist, Biblical Counselor, author, actress, and creative arts practitioner with more than 26 years of clinical experience and over 18 years in higher education. She is the founder and director of ELim Therapy Music & Arts, where she provides evidence-based music therapy, Biblical Counseling, creative arts counseling, and wellness programs that integrate music, creative arts, mindfulness, self-compassion, and Christian faith to promote holistic healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

Dr. Lim's extensive clinical experience spans across a diverse range of populations, including children with developmental disorders, neurologic and geriatric patients, individuals with psychiatric disorders, and patients in various medical settings such as neonatal, pediatric, and palliative care. Her research is particularly noteworthy for its focus on the impact of music on children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and the significant role of musical experiences in enhancing cognition, speech, language, and physical rehabilitation. Additionally, her prominent work in music-based memory training offers new hope for patients with dementia.

An innovator in her field, Dr. Lim developed 'Music-Centered Mindfulness Psychotherapy,' a unique approach that has garnered attention and respect in the music therapy community. Her research and findings have been widely recognized, with publications in esteemed journals like the Journal of Music Therapy, Psychology of Music, and more. Dr. Lim is a champion of Connecting Hearts through Music and Creative Arts.

Currently, Dr. Lim serves as Director of Science for 'Sing and Speak 4 Kids' at iQsonics.com, where her expertise continues to shape innovative therapeutic approaches for young children. Author of the influential book "Developmental Speech-language Training through Music for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders," Dr. Lim's contributions extend beyond therapy into the realm of education, providing valuable insights and strategies for professionals working with autistic individuals.

Beyond her professional pursuits, she is also a film maker/actress; was nominated for Best Actress in the 20th 168 Film Festival for a short film <The Art of Kindness> which is 2025 The Telly Awards Gold Winner. Dr. Lim is committed to incorporate multiple forms of arts such as literature, music, studio arts, photography, films, theater, and dance into her therapeutic endeavor.

Dr. Hayoung Lim is married to Rev. Timothy Yum, Ph.D., and together they have faithfully served the Wichita Korean Baptist Church in Kansas.
